BENJAMIN LEAR, 33
BEN LEAR CHOREOGRAPHY, LLC
CHOREOGRAPHER
At just 33 years old, Benjamin Lear has packed a lot of experience in the Cheer and Dance industries. At the early age of 7, he began training as a gymnast at Tumbling With Spirit, located in Rio Grande, NJ. That then led to joint training in classical dance at the Jersey Cape Dance and Gymnastics Academy along with Acro-Gymnastics at TWS. Lear started winning Acro-Gymnastics/Dance competitions on both local and national levels around the U.S. and soon became a household name. His talent was seen on Broadway, starring in The Wizard of Oz, performed at the Madison Square Garden in New York City at the early age of 10 and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, performed on tour at the Palace Theatre in Myrtle Beach, SC at the age of 12. Commercial work was yet another avenue he explored, appearing in the national commercial for Rack Room Shoes.
Lear also began his cheerleading career at an early age while continuing his training as an Acro-Gymnast/Dancer. School and Recreational Cheerleading were but one of his stepping stones to becoming the choreographer he is today. He began assisting his cheer coaches throughout his Middle/High School career, playing a large roll in the training and creative direction of each of the teams. Lear has been trained in Acro-Gymnastics, Dance (Ballet, Tap, Pom, Jazz, Modern, etc.), as well as all 7 levels of All Star Cheerleading.
His 20+ year cheer experience is vast - between his local hometown team, Cheer Express, and a four year involvement at South Jersey Storm All Star Cheer & Dance, the precedence was set. His previous trainings helped mold the skills used today. Lear cheered on the South Jersey Storm Large Coed 5 and Open Coed 6 teams while also coaching several of the SJS teams for two years before moving down to South Florida in 2007 where he currently resides with his husband Mikey and 2 dogs Bubba & Fasco.
Lear continued his All Star Cheer career at the award-winning Top Gun All Star Cheer & Dance Training Center. He was a member of the International Open Coed 5 team (i5) from 2007-2011, and also trained with the Top Gun All Stars’ Team Performance Dance team. He has received numerous awards and accolades, team and individual, for both acro-gymnastics/dance and All Star Cheerleading at many Regional, National, and World Championships around the U.S. As a competitor, he was awarded two Gold and two Bronze medals along with a Grand Champion title with Top Gun All Stars i5 at the USASF Cheerleading Worlds. Lear continues to contribute to many Regional, National, and World Championship titles through his choreography company, Ben Lear Choreography, LLC, which encompasses a subdivision of several top notch choreographers dubbed “The Society”.
Ben’s work allows him to travel the globe, educating and working with several international teams throughout Europe and Australia for the past 10 years. He continues to work with numerous elite programs in the USA including California Allstars, Spirit of Texas, Top Gun Allstars, Stingray Allstars, ICE Allstars, Midwest Cheer Elite, ATA, and many more.
